why vertwo

a studio for craft built for careers.

We're not a freelance marketplace and we're not a sweatshop. We're a long-term studio investing in long-term creative careers for Indonesian artists, on Indonesian soil.

global stage, local roots

Work on titles for Japanese, Korean, and Western publishers without leaving Indonesia. Your portfolio gains international weight.

mentorship by default

Every new artist goes through vertwo ignite, our internal academy before touching a client project. Senior leads review every panel.

WFA (Working from Anywhere)

Work from your hometown, or wherever you focus best. All roles are fully remote-friendly for the people who are tired of dealing with traffic jams every day and want to spend more quality time with their families.

caliber titles

You'll work on international-caliber webtoon series for Japanese, Korean, and Western publishers, the kind of titles that move portfolios from local to global.

real growth path

Junior → Mid → Senior → Lead. Clear career progression and skill development, with real review milestones, not vibes or favoritism.

bahasa-first, english-friendly

We work in Bahasa Indonesia internally. English helps for client work but is not a barrier to joining or growing here.

Webtoon-to-Manga Format Converter Artist

TypeFull-time / Freelance
LocationRemote · WFA
LevelProfessional
Openings2
Job Description:
  • Dismantle an infinite-scroll vertical webtoon and dynamically rearrange it into standard book pages (Tankobon or graphic novel format), or vice versa
  • Scroll-to-Page Layout Restructuring: Slice, resize, and reconfigure long-strip vertical webtoon panels into multi-panel traditional book layout sheets (e.g., B5/A5 sizes)
  • Visual Rhythm & Narrative Pacing: Control the comic's narrative pacing by deciding how many panels go on a page, splitting wide landscape panels, and managing blank "gutter" space to ensure emotional beats land correctly for a book format
  • Redrawing & Paintovers: Redraw or paint over missing backgrounds, character clothing, or extended visual assets when transforming a tight vertical composition into a wide page layout
  • Dialogue & Typesetting Rearrangement: Reposition speech bubbles, narrative boxes, and on-page sound effects to guide the reader's eye smoothly across the page rather than straight down
  • File Optimization & Print Prepping: Manage complex, high-resolution layered files (usually in Photoshop or Clip Studio Paint), convert color profiles from digital RGB to print-ready CMYK, and strictly adhere to bleed lines and safe margins
  • Editorial & Revision Collaboration: Work with writers, editors, or project managers to adjust panel composition, fix continuity errors, and meet tight serialization or delivery deadlines.
Requirements:
  • Strong understanding of both webtoon (vertical scroll) and traditional manga/comic (paneled page) formats.
  • Experience in page layout design and panel composition.
  • Proficiency in tools such as Adobe Photoshop, Clip Studio Paint, or InDesign.
  • Strong attention to detail, particularly for maintaining visual storytelling flow across formats.
  • Ability to creatively problem-solve layout challenges when converting single-column vertical content into multi-panel page spreads.
  • Willingness to treat the conversion process as an adaptation exercise, embracing the conventions of print rather than doing a purely literal conversion.
  • Willing to work as a team.
  • Plus: Possesses proficiency in English and Japanese.
life at vertwo

behind every panel is a team.

Hiring is the start. Here's what working at vertwo actually looks and sounds like, from the people who do the work.

From the team

Working here is such a blessing opportunity to me. Starting from junior colorist and now I became lead colorist, they really improve our skills. Also since it's WFA, the time is flexible to a person with weird body clock like me 😂

One of the things I appreciate most about this company is strong culture of growth and responsibility. Everyone is encouraged to keep learning and improving, while supporting each other along the way. It has been a rewarding experience, and I feel honored to be part of such a dedicated team.

I'm thrilled to be a part of vertwo. Besides the new experience, I've also learned a lot as a colorist. I've learned how to create strong shading during the coloring process, as well as other experiences like rendering/finishing panels based on storyboards. I've met team members who support each other and help with any challenges.

All positions are remote and open to everyone across Indonesia. Meetings are held online via Google Meet or Discord. Training and internal academy sessions are also conducted online.

No. Bahasa Indonesia is our internal working language and is sufficient for every role. Working English helps for client-facing work. However, Japanese is a must for a Project Manager who is partnered with Japanese publishers, but neither is a requirement to apply or grow here.

We benchmark against the upper third of the Indonesian webtoon market for each role + level, with annual reviews tied to the Junior → Mid → Senior → Lead progression. Specific ranges are shared at the offer stage.

Drop us a line through the contact form or email. We run 3–4 batches a year, and exceptional senior portfolios sometimes get reviewed off-cycle for specific roles.

Yes. We hire at the junior level every batch, and student portfolios are welcome, we read for craft, not credentials. If you can show clean fundamentals (anatomy, perspective, color theory, composition), the rest is teachable. Oh, and interns are also welcome.
